A Home away from Home...
Platanal's rooms are tucked back from the street and there are flowers/tropicals in the garden area - and even shade (!) from a mature mango tree. It is refreshing to find a little garden paradise in the concrete jungle of a city! A Pygmy Owl chattered during the day and night!
With the kitchen only a few steps away from the social area, we prepared food to go and also enjoyed returning at the end of a long day - and staying 'home' instead of leaving to dine nearby.
The rooms are well appointed and always spotless, thoughtfully designed with a desk area and a place to hang clothes, no reason to put anything on the floor - such attention to detail! There are plenty of options for charging electrical devices - plus mesitas and reading lights by the bed. Hot water (always thank you very much!) and very environment friendly.
In the future I fear of hearing, 'Sorry we're full,' as more people learn of this quiet respite. It is truly a joy to find such a well run, quiet and comforting option in Portoviejo that feels like you're visiting family.
